We've organized a series of seminars with the AEDG on the problem of weeds on golf courses. These were hosted by Dr. Fred Yelverton, Professor specializing in lawn and weed management at the University of Carolina (North Carolina State University).

The Soto Grande Golf Course and the Madrid National Golf Centre have hosted these seminars, conducted by Semillas Fitó and the AEDG, with a great turnout of greenkeepers (130 professionals between both events). In spite of the heat wave and the complicated summer months, they did not did not want to miss out on the advice and knowledge of one of the world's greatest experts on weeds.

Dr. Fred Yelverton, specializing in the management of lawns and weeds, with a Ph.D. from North Carolina State University, is one of the 20 most influential figures in weed science, and his talks were eminently practical and focused on the real problems of lawns in Spain and Portugal.

The first talk was at the excellent Soto Grande golf course in Cadiz, with the presence of 80 greenkeepers from around Andalusia, and the second was held at the National Golf Centre in Madrid, with 50 greenkeepers from central Spain, Murcia and even Portugal. 

The talks were a resounding success not only for the number of attendees, but for the active audience participation, who asked Dr. Yelverton many questions and queries on specific weed problems in their golf courses. Dr. Fred Yelverton answered all questions regarding how to improve golf courses with examples, pictures and tests conducted on golf courses around the world.
